Institute for Soft Tissue Therapists
Who are the The Institute for Soft Tissue Therapists (ISRM)?
- Formaly known as The Institute of Sport and Remedial Massage, the Institute for Soft Tissue Therapists (ISRM) was originally formed in 2005 by Mel Cash, but its origins go back to 1989 when the London School of Sports Massage (LSSM) began. This started the first externally validated Sports Massage qualification in the UK.
- Over subsequent years the qualification continued to develop and in 2016 the ISRM established the first Soft Tissue Therapy qualification.
- The ISRM was initially formed to enable other schools to run the same qualification through their internal validation process and regulated by BTEC.
- As the number of qualified therapists grew it then became necessary for the ISRM to also become a Professional Association which could represent the needs of the new level of clinical therapists.
- As a professional association the ISRM represents the interests of Soft Tissue Therapists and maintains a register of qualified therapists/members.
